Brief History: Carrying the weight of the eldest to six children could be soul weary, and often leave room for total failure. Attempted tries at leaving her home, only gained the impression that she would forever stay in the city of Compton until the end of her days. Born to a southern bred mother, and crime affiliated father; Antoinette would learn the ways of what she was shown. Her inner turmoil was stirred from the lack of common decency between the dwellers of her community, the bouts with men her mother dealt with, the many siblings, and the pressure, which came from being the eldest. With her paternal twin along for the ride, he went in the same direction as their father. After her father’s incarceration in her early life she figured looking up to the only males around; her grandfather, brother and the people he kept as close friends. Not letting his choices of gang life teeter her away from the positive, Antoinette took closely to her grandparents or the safety of her hardworking mother. As a kid she wanted to follow her brother but knew best it wasn’t to follow in his footsteps because of his choice in life. She would soon learn that his choices never promised to see the next day. Still that was her brother and she loved him for who he was and not for what he did. He taught her many things in order to hold her own incase anything happened. They both made a promise that one way or another each and everyone in their intermediate family would be out of the glum influence of their world. He knew his outlet but she didn’t. Still to this day her visions of seeing outside of Compton are still blurry. Means of leaving the place she called home is either following the route her brothers took or schooling. Either way, she wants to put in work to get out. The daily struggle only enabled a bad temper to form issue within her and insecurities about herself. On top of those mixed feelings, the death of her twin brother harbored a new set of turmoil added to the boiling pot. Time will only tell when it all will boil over. Uncertainty still lingers in the air. A path of destruction may be in favor over the path of prosperity. Trials and tribulations transpired from that day on and into the present where opportunities arise leading her to walk the new path of a grown woman. From looking back through her many phases as a young adult, the sky is still the limit although all is not the same between some of the people who have been in her life constant. Looking on to establish herself as a person well rounded, Antoinette might believe that the learning and evolution as a person still may hold its ups and downs. If it matters any, some things will never change.
