Please take a minute or two to read over this checklist. Thank you!


Have you read the Rules & Guidelines?

Is your PB on Hold? (not required, but recommended!)

Does your AIM screen name coordinate somehow with your character journal name and/or the character's name?

Is your character's biography/history at least 2 decent paragraphs and posted to your character journal? OR if doing detailed facts, is there at least 10 of them and are they posted to your character's journal? (Remember, if doing "Quick Facts", these must be about the character's personality, not vital statistics.)

IMPORTANT! Have you double-checked your character's AGE with that of the PB you are using? They must be within 5 yrs.

Is your character a faux-celeb? If so, are the credits added to the bio?

Is there at least one icon uploaded of your character's played-by?

Are your examples provided?

Have you requested membership to the communities?

If you want your character listed in the Member Directory, did you submit a CROPPED image for your character?

Your Character IS Active (& safe from removals) If...:
(1) Their journal is updated with at least 3 substantial paragraphs
or
(2) They had a thread posted with at least 3 substantial replies
or
(3) They had an AIM Log/Scene with at least 3 substantial replies
OR
(4) They joined the community on or after June 14th, 2009

...remember it is ONE of the THREE! No need to do all three but you can if you choose :) Posts can be Private to the mod journal if need be.

How we do Removals:

Many members have asked us how we go about doing removals and why does it seem like we do them so "randomly"? Well, first off, we don't do them randomly.. We actually do them on a very strict schedule and usually at a very prompt time.

Here is exactly how we go about determining who we "remove":


  • The Date & Time: The first thing we do is schedule an exact date and time to do the removals. Removals are done EVERY 4 WEEKS. Once, we gave an extra six days, but that was for the holiday season and we won't be doing that on a regular basis.

  • New Character: If your character joined anytime within the removal time frame, we count your character(s) as SAFE from removals on that date.

  • Threads/AIM Logs: The next thing we do is to actually sift through [info]chicagothread, post after post and see who has interacted in and/or posted a thread, and see who has posted an AIM LOG. As of 02/03/09: If your character is in a thread, he/she must post 3-4 replies, paragraph format, in order to count toward activity; If your character is in an AIM Scene/Log (posted public or private) he/she must post 3-4 replies, paragraph format, in order to count toward activity

    If you are in a thread that isn't "complete", & yet you've fulfilled the above guidelines, your character(s) are still SAFE. AIM LOGS that are posted in this sub-comm are also counted.

  • Journal Updates: The third part of doing removals is to physically go through every remaining journal and check the date and substance (3-4 paragraphs) of their updates. Updates can be 3rd person/narrative, or 1st person/blog entry. The only thing we look for here is that there be NO LYRICS (they don't count) or just a one-liner. If everything is deemed sufficient, your character(s) is SAFE from removals.

  • PRIVATE LOGS: This has become more and more popular and we DO count these toward activity. If you are a more private person and do not want your AIM logs or threads on a "public" forum we will allow filtered posts to the mod journal, and we also will accept E-mails, PM's, etc. Please give us a heads up though if E-mailing. :)



At this point, all the character journals that remain and have not participated in the above activity guidelines are up for removals.

We used to contact members and remind them, and we would also make a removal list for everyone's convenience, but we no longer do this. Why not? Because it is your responsibility to make sure your character is active, not ours. We DO list the date of removals at the top of the Taken/Held list in advance. Please stay abreast on the removal date.

Note: If your character(s) is removed for inactivity OR you leave voluntarily and would like to rejoin, you need to do the following:
(1) Update your character's journal
(2) Update your friends list
(3) Re-Apply (please note that all Rules in effect now will be in effect for this new application. Example, if you were "grandfathered" in before with a journal name and AIM sn that weren't coordinating, you will need to coordinate them now. We treat all applications as new applicants and the Rules apply as of that date.)

As of 12-08-08: If you are removed for inactivity twice you will not be allowed back in the game. We're dedicated, and we want our members to be as well. This IS retroactive, meaning, this rule will start the day the game opened. Yes, we've kept track.

If your character(s) is removed for inactivity (once) OR you leave voluntarily and would like to rejoin, you need to do the following:

(1) Update your character's journal (3-4 decent paragraphs please)
(2) Request membership to all of the communities
(3) Re-Apply using the form below
